The Day The News Died - The new York Times

The Day The News Died documents the last days of the Warroad Pioneer after it closed leaving the community of 2,700 without a local newspaper.  As more newspapers are closing many communities are coming to grips with the realities of being a news desert. The project started as a simple daily assignment and eventually ran as a 16-page special section in the Sunday New York Times.
